Jean is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing.
Certified Nurse-Midwives independently manage women’s health care, focusing on common primary care issues, family planning and gynecological needs of women, pregnancy, childbirth, the post partum period and newborn care. Certified Nurse-Midwives consult and collaborate with other healthcare providers, and may refer patients as needed.
Nurse-midwifery care focuses on health promotion, disease prevention and health education. Nurse-midwives encourage women to make informed decisions, and deliver family-centered health care. They advocate non-intervention in the absence of complications, and practice evidence-based healthcare.
