Construction Update For the Solari Radiation Therapy Center

Construction of The Solari Radiation Therapy Center,  the first and only radiation therapy facility in Southern Virginia is underway. This facility will be connected to Community Memorial Healthcenter's Cancer and Specialty Care Center located in the Hendrick Cancer & Rehab Center at 750 Lombardy Street in South Hill.

The ability to bring radiation treatment to Southern Virginia has been made possible through a partnership between CMH and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)  Massey Cancer Center, tremendous community support and from a very generous $1 million gift from Sylvia and William “Bill” Solari of Lake Gaston.

The addition of the radiation therapy treatment center will provide the region with complete comprehensive cancer care through this affiliate partnership.  On July 1 of this year, CMH began our partnership with VCU Massey Cancer Center through the VCU Medical Center, traditionally known as Medical College of Virginia (MCV), to provide medical oncology services to the area.  Cancer care is provided five days a week at CMH Cancer and Specialty Care and is now directed by Dr. Tzann T. Fang of Massey, who is dedicated solely to CMH oncology services.  When the radiation therapy facility is complete, Massey will direct CMH’s radiation oncology services as well.  The radiation therapy facility is expected to open in the summer of 2013.
