Our top priority at CMH is the safety and well being of our patients. But ensuring your safety requires your active participation in your care. It is very important that you partner with your healthcare team to make your stay at CMH as pleasant and safe as possible.
Smoking
To provide a healthy environment for patients, visitors and employees, and to maintain our accreditation by The Joint Commission, Community Memorial Healthcenter is a smoke free facility. Smoking by employees or visitors is not allowed anywhere within the hospital. You may inquire at the nurses station about designated outside smoking areas. Patients may smoke with a physician’s order, under limited conditions.
Fire Drills
Community Memorial Healthcenter holds periodic fire and disaster drills. When they occur, you will hear a bell chime. In most cases, the drills are to train hospital personnel only; you don’t have to do anything. If a real emergency occurs, follow the instructions given by our nursing staff.
Electrical Safety
All electrical equipment is subject to a safety inspection by the Engineering Department. Battery operated personal grooming devices in good condition and which meet reasonable safety standards as verified by a Biomedical Engineering Department inspection will be allowed for use in your room.
Cellular Telephones
The use of cellular phones should be restricted to public areas such as lobbies and waiting areas. Phones can cause noise pollution and disturb our patients. Pay phones are located throughout the hospital in the following areas:
Main Lobby
Emergency Department Lobby
Outside CICU waiting area
Physical Therapy waiting area
Annex waiting area
