Our Passion is our Profession
Passion in nursing is our profession,
That led us from the start,
It's not learned from a textbook
But rooted deep within our heart.
Passion in nursing is like a flower
When planted, nurtured, and fed,
It doesn't grow old and withere
But buds and blooms instead.
What is your passion in nursing?
We asked the nurses here,
And based on their responses
Nursing is a passion; not just a career.
As you read through the verses
Pause and absorb the words,
Because the events unfolding
Shows that passion, at CMH occurs.
Our passion in nursing
Is removing the crown from our head
As we enter the patient's domain,
To provide them with words of kindness
And gentle care, as we treat their pain.
From the ED, our passion
Is caring for a truck driver,
Who is sick and far from home,
And taking care of his little girl
Who was scared and all alone.
From East, our passion
Is seeing the smile and relief
On a mother's face,
As she hold her newborn
With her first embrace.
From the Pavilion, our passion
Is treating the patients
With dignity and respect,
And to help them overcome
Their feelings of neglect.
From Home Health, our passion
Is the relationships
That we build and share,
With the patients and their families
As we deliver in home care.
From South, our passion
Is a simple "thank you"
And to hear the patient say,
You made a difference
In your kind and gentle way.
From West, our passion
Is always doing our best
To meet our biggest goal,
To provide safe and effective care
That soothes the mind and soul.
From ICU, our passion
Is caring for the critically ill
And the suffering that they endure,
Wiping a tear from our eye
Knowing for some there is no cure.
From ECF, our passion
Is caring for our residents
Whatever their needs may be,
And always treating them
With respect and dignity.
From Surgical Services, our passion
Is talking to the patient
And not always a hands-on task,
But taking the time to listen
And answer questions thay may ask.
From Oncology, our passion
Is giving a patient a much needed hug
Or sometimes shedding a tear,
And to offer words of encouragement
During their times of doubt and fear.
From Hospice, our passion
Is providing the patient
With end of life comfort and care,
And giving the family assurance
That they are not alone in their despair.
From Dialysis, our passion
Is treating our patients like family
With a smile and a little humor too,
When they come in discouraged
And sometimes feeling blue.
From Cardiac Rehab, our passion
Is giving good quality care
As we smile and do our part,
To assit the patient with exercise
To strengthen a damaged heart.
From Health & Wellness, Care Management, IS,
Infection Control, Wound Care and Education, our passion
Is a different kind of nursing
And a variety of many deeds,
But knowing the duties that we perform
Is to help meet the patient's needs.
From all of the nurses, our passion
Is displaying our compassion
In all the things we do,
Sending a message to the patient
That we sincerely care for you.
The manys steps and aching feet
Seem so relentless in a day,
But knowing we make a difference
Erases the wearniess away.
Yes, passion is our profession
That led us from the start,
It was not learned in a textbook,
But dwells within our heart.
