Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - Nurses at Community Memorial Healthcenter Honored



The Alice Tudor Professional Nurse Award was presented to Jennifer Brugos, RN, CCRN from the Cardiac-Intensive Care Unit. Jennifer has worked at CMH for twenty years. She promotes and advances professional nursing by being actively involved in learning new and innovative ways of caring for patients and families. She is meticulous and accurate in her care delivery.

She is a member of many professional organizations including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Greater Richmond chapter of AACN. She has been an active Clinical ladder participant, and also participates yearly in the Cancer Walk for the Cure and participated in the 2010 Bike Ride for the Cure. She won the Stand Tall Award in 2010 for standing tall for safe patient care. She has been nominated for the CMH Employee of the Month several times. Jennifer Brugos is considered an expert clinician and a valuable asset to her unit and the organization.

 

The Carol Love Licensed Practical Nurse award was presented to Dorothy Rainey, LPN. Dorothy has been an LPN for nineteen years, all of which have been at CMH. She has been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for the past twelve years. She is also a regular volunteer for CMH blood pressure screenings for our community. She is an active member of CMH’s Quality and Safety team, the Clinical Ladder program, Hand Hygiene committee, Pressure Ulcer Prevention committee and participates actively in collecting data for pressure ulcer prevalence for NDNQI and VHQC. Outside of the hospital, Dorothy is very active in her church serving as a resource for healthy living.

 

The Dee McMillan Nurse Partner Award was presented to Carolyn Walker, Unit Secretary in CMH’s Oncology Department. Carolyn has been employed at CMH for thirty five years. She is the face or “the greeter” when a person first enters the oncology clinic. She has the keen ability to know where each patient should be and keeps the nurses on schedule. If there is a delay she keeps the patients informed. She triages phone calls and takes messages for staff if they are busy. She is capable and accurate when taking messages and filters what is emergent. She actively participates in the Unit Base council meetings. This applicant is involved in the TREE committee, Relay for Life and has served on the Employee Relations committee when it was formally known as the Presidents Panel. She is very dependable, and if given a task you can be assured it will be completed right the first time. She has been nominated for CMH Employee of the Month on numerous occasions and received this award in May of 2009. She is a strong woman of faith, dedicated, hardworking, and a dependable secretary.
